Cozy wood stove season

We are excited to welcome  2 Thanksgiving groups this year!  They both are in for a real treat.  Imagine the Lodge and the smell of turkey roasting while the family chefs are in the kitchen peeling potatoes, chopping garlic and cooking up a storm.  Everyone shares their special dish. Then there’s the aroma of fresh baked pumpkin pies, the green bean casserole, cranberries and homemade dinner rolls with real butter. The kids are busy making decorations with leaves and pumpkins for the table and little turkey place cards.  The older kids are preparing an “Around the Lodge” scavenger hunt for a post dinner activity to get people up and moving around.  (They are just fed up with everyone just dozing on a couch after consuming all that turkey!)  There is always a lot of laughter at a family gathering. Just being surrounded by family is always my favorite memory of Thanksgiving. And the memories come back every year to savor once again.

This scene can be created at Christmas or any day during our winter season.  Leave your worries and the cold outside and enjoy the wonderful experience of the Lodge filled with your family and friends.  Remember Anderson Lodge when you are planning your family gathering this winter.  We specialize in warm family memories.

We have been working on our website this fall now that the wedding season is over.  We are hard at work on improvements at the Lodges too.  We never stop working around here.  For those that do not know, Arvid is a “worker bee”!

We have changed pages on the website which will make it filled with more information and easier for clients to access.  We now have an FAQ page for both weddings and retreats.  When someone calls or raises a question on a tour, I try to put the question on these pages.  These pages offer so much info and details about a stay at the lodge.  We also have our rental agreements online.  Now you can download them rather than receive them by snail mail.   And, floor plans.  Many ask the number of beds in each guest room or cabin.  Now we have them online for you.  This is not drawn to scale but does show the locations of the beds, bathrooms, etc.

Arvid has been busy preparing the Lodges for the winter season.  We have finished Pippi’s Play House!  It is so cute and already has seen some happy kidlets.  Yay!  We are enclosing the trash shed at the Hilltop for a couple of reasons.  One of which is aesthetics.   Gazing at trash cans while you hare having a wedding reception is a no-no in our books.  Also at the Hilltop, we are making a partial wall to enclose an area where there are some storage items are visible from the dining patio.  We have plans to stain the gazebo so it can be better preserved and renovate the coffee house a bit.   Clients have mentioned these troublesome areas, which has inspired us to add them to fall projects.  Any other ideas out there?

Again, we want to encourage you to think of Anderson Lodge if you want to have a group gathering this fall or winter.  Spoken from experience, there’s nothing better that relaxing around the wood stove, talking with your special relatives, with the clatter of children playing games in the background.  Someone invariably picks up the guitar and a sing-a-long ensues.  Grandpa and the toddlers are sitting on the couch reading stories.  Then, magically, some wonderful selections of family snacks and drinks appear.  What do I choose… spiced hot apple cider or hot chocolate with mini marshmallows?  Hmmmm. Oh my goodness.  Does it get any better than this?

Happy Fall everyone.  Hope you make some wonderful memories!

Successful Summer Season

Count 2014 as the most successful season ever!  The weather was beyond wonderful.  The lack of rain and an abundance of clear blue skies made all the events at Anderson Lodge ideal.  On television we may see, “Dancing With the Stars” but at Anderson Lodge we have dancing UNDER the stars!

Family reunions tend to take place mid-week to take advantage of the areas of interest near our location.  We heard many reports of trips to the Ape Caves, family swims at Speelyai Bay, and some very happy guests who fell in love with all the waterfalls just a short drive from us.  One reunion had a golf competition at Lewis River Golf just west of the Lodge.  I think our campfire amphitheater got plenty of use.  Can you say SMORES?

Weddings are the events that dominate the weekends at Anderson Lodge in the summer.  We had no new cabins ready this last summer, but they are in the works.  Arvid was busy and built a new patio at the Main Lodge.  It is just below the bathhouse and has the same amazing rock walls that he is known for building.  Picnic tables line the area.  It is overlooking the new Swedish Playhouse!  What makes a playhouse Swedish?  Well, the color of the paint in our case. It is Falun red, (we sent for the paint from Sweden) just like the rest of our buildings at Anderson Lodge.  It has the usual toys… kitchen with baking & food prep utensils, picnic table and toy box.  We have named it:  “Pippi’s Playhouse.”

The conference room at the Main Lodge got a makeover for sure.  Look up and you will see the new overhead lighting and ceiling fans.  We purchased a new piano that is lovely.  The musicians in your group may be pleased to know that we have our pianos tuned twice a year.  The biggest feature that we are proud of is the new carpet in the conference room and new furniture.  Outdated plaid furniture is out, and new leather couches & upholstered side chairs are in!  After every event,  there is always a guest or two that raves about the fabulous improvements in the room!

Now don’t think the Hilltop House has been forgotten. The Sleeping House has new furniture in the lounge and a new futon at the top of the stairs.  The Conference Room was also updated with new carpet and wonderful furniture.  Two leather couches, two upholstered side chairs and two super-comfy sling chairs sit right in front of the fireplace.  We can’t wait for you to see this beautiful Courtway Conference Room now!

We continue into the fall season with a few weddings, several church gatherings,  staff retreats and celebrations.  We tend to be busy all year, but don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to hold an event at Anderson Lodge.  WE OFFER AMAZING DISCOUNTS IN THE FALL AND WINTER SEASONS!

Winter events are super here.  Think of us for family gatherings for the holidays.  It is so easy to prepare feasts in our fully equipped kitchens and with all the dining space; you will be so happy with your special family times.  The wood stoves and fireplaces make for a very cozy gathering.  As you can see by the information above, we are constantly improving, all the time.  We have our guests in mind when we start a project.  YOU are our most important focus!

Give us a call if you would like to tour our facilities.  You can see these renovations first hand.  We would love to make an appointment for a tour.  Let’s make a date!

Looking forward to your visit,
