Special Occasion Links

For those holding special events at Anderson Lodge, here are some links to websites of vendors.  Many of our clients have requested suggestions and information regarding weddings and special events.  Most all these vendors have been to Anderson Lodge or we have personal experience with them.  We feel comfortable recommending the services these vendors provide.

Wedding Officiants
A Beautiful Ceremony NW will work with you to create a custom ceremony from the heart that will be a reflection of your story and an expression of your  commitment to each other.  As ordained non-denominational wedding officiants, Rev. Steve Sharp or Rev. Leslie Sharp (Your choice) will add that personal touch that will make your ceremony memorable and unique. They support marriage equality and even speak Spanish! They are such wonderful people, we know you will love working with them!!!

Cindy Blixt of 5 Star Catering is the caterer we see most often at Anderson Lodge. Although we no longer have catering as a part of our rental packages, clients choose from our list of preferred caterers. Cindy is the one that we see back again and again.  She receives enthusiastic positive reviews from everyone who has her cater.   She is able to provide any recipe from BBQ to plated meals to lavish buffets.  You will be in direct contact with her to choose your buffet selections.  She is happy to create menus to accommodate dietary needs such as:  gluten free, vegan & vegetarian, etc. Be prepared for non-stop rave reviews if you have her cater for your event.

The best decision we ever made was having Cindy and 5 Star Catering provide a “Fiesta Bar” for Arvid’s BIG  birthday this May. It was the most amazing Mexican buffet I have ever seen or tasted.  I was in love with her yummy tomatillo salsa. Everything was home made and made to perfection. Compliments from our guests continued for days after the party.

She not only prepares amazing reception fare but she is so talented in the presentation of her dishes. We often hear comments on how warm and welcoming she is.  She is a gem!  Cindy has years of experience catering for events of all kinds.   Again, she is a very qualified caterer and has been to our facility many, many times.

Event Planning
We can recommend a Wedding Coordinator and she is amazing! At Anderson Lodge Events, the goal of an event planner is to make your vision for your special day a stress-free reality.   Some couples like a coordinator to handle everything from “I will” to “I do,” while others just need to be directed to some great local resources.  She will provide whatever level of assistance you need. Generally, there are three levels of service: Consulting, Event Coordination, and Full Service Planning, but all services are fully customizable.  She is VERY familiar with the both the Main Lodge and the Hilltop House and is experienced in event planning.   Unlike other traditional planners, she helps facilitate the full event, not just the ceremony and reception. From Ideas to Full Service you are in good hands.   Diane Blixt is GREAT!

Nearby Attractions

There are some wonderful attractions close to Anderson Lodge! Summer or winter, our beautiful Yale Valley and the surrounding areas offer many activites and sites of interest.

Below are some links to websites for popular points of interest in the area.

The Cedar Creek Grist Mill rests on a steep and rocky slope at the bottom of a narrow gorge. It is the only grain grinding mill in Washington that has maintained its original structural integrity, grinds with stones and is water powered. Take a “Working Tour” of how this mill still works today. The Cedar Creek Grist Mill is open all year, Saturdays 1:00 to 4:00 and Sundays 2:00 to 4:00.  This landmark is just 20 miles from the lodge.

The Ape Caves
The caves are a must-see for guests that are looking for an outing for people of all ages. The cave is the longest continuous lava tube in the continental United States.  There are two routes once you enter the cave. The lower route is the easiest and might take an hour or so to complete.  The upper route is more difficult and can take as much as 3 hours.  Take warm coats and lanterns and flashlights. Let the fun begin!

X-Treme Rentals

If you are wanting to rent a jet ski or a ski boat then X-Treme Sport Rental can help you out. They advertise rentals for Merwin Lake and Yale Lake.  What a great way to explore the beauty of the area, by water.  They offer pick-up and drop-off services so you can spend more time on the water. The ski boats are spacious enough for 10 people.  They also rent out Yamaha Waverunners that can carry up to 3 passengers.  You can request a reservation and reserve online.

Mt. St. Helens Zip-Line
Zip under the canopy of majestic trees on a harness and cable trolley system traveling great distances and heights. You are soaring from tree to tree surrounded by breathtaking views and natural surroundings.  Awesome! The zipline tours start at $55.

Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens
Step back in time to discover the 1880’s Victorian farmhouse and country garden that comprise the Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens, a national historic site located 30 minutes from the lodge in Woodland, WA. The Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens are really an arboretum with many flowers, shrubs, and exotic trees in addition to the lilacs, so there is much to see during any time of year.

Lelooska Foundation and Cultural Center
Wonderful presentations in authentic longhouse. Storytelling, dances, art, museum and gallery. These programs are suitable for adults and children. (Due to the size and nature of the masks, some very small children may not be comfortable.) Call for availability and dates of operation. Daytime and Saturday night programs. Museum and gallery are open at various times throughout the year and often open for special requests.

Lewis River Golf Course
This 18 hole golf course is located just west of Anderson Lodge. You pass the golf course when driving to Anderson Lodge on the south side of the road. The tree-lined  fairways require accuracy to score well, and the greens, with challenging contours, are some of the finest you’ll putt on in the northwest.  Many of our clients schedule a golf day for their guests.  This is a quality course and just down the road!

Mount St. Helens
Imagine that you’re living near Mt. St. Helens, a sleeping volcano and suddenly one morning while you are making waffles…it wakes up! Well, that is what happened to Arvid Anderson, the owner and builder of Anderson Lodge! Explore this site to read exciting stories from those who were there. There is also a page devoted to the famous Ape Caves just a short drive from the Lodge.

Washington Trails Association
A great site that gives details about hiking trails on the South Cascades at Mt. St. Helens.  Explore what the site has to offer or search for trails on Ape Canyon and Lava Canyon.  The ONLY Climbing Route for Mt. St. Helens is from the south side past Anderson Lodge on Hwy 503.  During the off-season ( November thru March ) climbing permits are free and can be picked up at the Lone Fir Motel in Cougar, WA with no limit. Many people have stayed at Anderson Lodge and included a hike as a part of their adventure.  Super way to enjoy our beautiful natural setting in the area.

his is an excellent detailed account of the Mt. St. Helen’s monument. It is designed to guide visitors on a driving tour of the major sights in this land of volcanic destruction and dramatic biological renewal. It is planned for the reader who has about two – three days days for a visit. Excellent information for anyone who wants to plan a trip to “the Mountain” as we call it. May 18th, the date of the 1980 eruption is celebrated in a big way by the Andersons.

Gifford Pinchot National Forest
Learn a little about the forest surrounding Anderson Lodge. This is a very extensive site with information about hiking, wildlife, points of interest, Mt. St. Helens and so much more. Don’t miss the live video cam of Mt. St. Helens!
