Hilltop House
The Hilltop House, as the name suggests, is a secluded cottage
at the top of the hill overlooking
the Yale Valley. This cozy and comfortable retreat center is perfect
for overnight groups approximately 15-30 in size. (Group sizes
tend to increase in the summer with RV's, tents, and sleeping
on a deck under the stars.) Our conference room is ideal for large
group celebrations, such as: anniversary parties, performances,
weddings, family gatherings or just plain fun! Also, guests enjoy
our newly constructed reception pavilion. With laminate flooring it
is perfect for dancing, meeting and celebrations of all kinds.
The Hilltop House
consists of a dining room, kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms, and
a recreation room. There are 18 separate beds: 12 double beds
and 6 single beds. There are 2 additional bathrooms and a fully
equipped kitchen in the conference room (adjacent to the Hilltop
House) as well. The beds are replicas of those found in Swedish
cabins. It is perched on 76 acres of natural beauty and wildlife.
A picturesque apple orchard is to the west and the beauty of the
valley and mountain ranges are to the east. Enjoy the lovely view,
grazing elk, serenity, or share a game or
two in the recreation room. The Scandinavian design and the secluded
location truly make the Hilltop House a one-of-a-kind facility.
The Hilltop site has 3 chalet style cabins that are an optional rental
to groups at the Hilltop. These cabins may also be rented by families
individually. Each has a kitchen, bathroom, living/dining area and a
loft with 2 twins. The sofa in the cabin slides out and pops up to
convert to a comfortable double bed. They have been popular for groups
renting the Hilltop and also for people wanting to climb Mt. St. Helens
or utilize other recreational possibilities in the area. Everyone that
sees them immediately is impressed!
As a tribute to Sweden and their love for coffee, we constructed
"Ella's Coffee House" at the edge of the orchard. It
is a place for groups to relax, sit back and enjoy the peaceful
surroundings and YES! Have some coffee if they wish! The charming
gazebo offers another place of solitude or backdrop for a wedding
couple. For the 100th anniversary of the apple orchard we planted
some standard apple trees to re-establish and complete the orchard.
We are trying to carry on the traditions of Sweden in our attention
to detail and love for nature.
Much like the hostels in Sweden and in other parts of Europe we
are now offering a home-style lodging alternative at the Hilltop
House between our retreats. Our hostel guests bring their own
bedding (or rent ours) stay in one of the 4 bedrooms of the Hilltop
House and still use all the wonderful amenities that we have to
offer. We also welcome R.V.’s and tents to stay as well.
GUEST HOSTEL travelers share the kitchen,
dining and leisure areas and the entire 75 acre Hilltop site.
Pre-registration is required for guest hostel accommodations and
can be made up to 30 days in advance. Please call or email Anderson
Lodge to make a reservation.

There
are many unique features that make the Hilltop House an unforgettable
site. The magnificent conference room enriches any gathering from
receptions, retreats, reunions, choir rehearsals, anniversaries,
birthdays to business seminars. With the rock wall fireplace and
baby grand piano, this is a truly versatile space. The entire length
of this building is lined with a deck to view the depth of the valley
and mountaintops. Outdoors, the covered outdoor amphitheater provides
a fire pit with a covered stage and circular seating around it.
What fun this adds to a family reunion.
Speaking of fun, send the kids out to our authentic Swedish playhouse
or the children's play area! This is where memories are made. And
how about gathering the crew in the covered picnic area! It's big
enough to hold a barbeque, a dance, or even an awards ceremony.
Catering
is also an option at both the Main Lodge
and the Hilltop House. For groups choosing to do their own cooking,
all paper towels, soaps, dishes, cooking utensils, etc., are provided.
Our kitchens are fully equipped and ready for your group. Kitchen
facilities in the new conference room are ideal for serving large
groups. This is a wonderful site for so many special gatherings.
